WORK to rejuvenate an historic Meirionnydd Village Hall is set to begin this summer.
Last year the Friog and Fairbourne Village Hall won a significant Big Lottery Fund grant worth nearly £250,000 to “provide a functional, flexible stimulating environment and inclusive facility for the whole of the community”.
Recently a main contractor and project manager have been appointed and the refurbishment project will begin in earnest within the next few weeks.
The much-loved building will be closed from the end of June until November as the necessary renovations take place.
Eric Wilding, chair of the trustees who organised the grant application, said: “It looks like the building will be closed at the end of June for several months as the refurbishment takes place.
“The building is more than 110 years old so it needs a bit of tender loving care."
