CYCLING brothers Josh and Fin Tarling have been enjoying a period of wins and podiums in time trials up and down the country over recent weeks, culminating in a gold and silver in the British National Circuit Time Trial Championships held in Naseby, Northamptonshire.

The championship is always held on a tough course and this year didn’t disappoint with the riders having to complete two laps of a tight and twisty course that featured two significant climbs and some tricky descending.

Josh started as pre-race favourite and after recent wins in similar events, was feeling the pressure.

Closest challenger was likely to be younger brother Finlay who has also been performing strongly.

While Josh is 17 and is expected to compete for medals, Finlay is just 14 and is performing ahead of rivals his own age and regularly challenges the older juniors and seniors.

On the day, Josh proved unbeatable, blitzing the course at an average speed of over 27mph, despite the hills, to take the win by over four minutes.

However, Fin rode out of his skin and, despite being the youngest in the race, took a fabulous silver medal.

Both boys’ focus now switches to the national championships on the road in Wiltshire and Essex and then onto the track championships in Glasgow at the end of July.
