PENPARCAU FC have been forced to withdraw from the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one, due to a reported “lack of commitment” from their players.
The Min-y-ddol club, which had notched five wins from 10 league matches this season, felt it would be unable to fulfill the remaining games of the campaign.
Penparcau, who were the champions of the Spar Mid Wales League just six seasons ago, had to withdraw their membership of that league two years later to re-enter the District League.
The club has also had to fold its Reserve team in recent years, and club officials have now confirmed that a lack of commitment from its current team meant that it had to withdraw from this season’s District League.
“Penparcau FC have informed the League that they had decided to withdraw from division one due to a lack of commitment from their players,”said a league spokesperson.
“The secretary stated that the club’s committee had invited players to an urgent meeting, but due to poor attendance and a lack of commitment the club has reluctantly agreed to withdraw the team from the League.
“The League Executive Committee accepted the decision and hope they regroup and re-enter next season.”
Last September, Penrhyncoch FC withdrew their Thirds team from the Cambrian Tyres division two, with chairman Kevin Jenkins also citing a “lack of commitment” from players.
