A YOUNG footballer from Tywyn has been accepted into the North Wales Academy.

Evie Holt, who plays for CPD Merched Porthmadog under 12 side, has been playing football since she was six when she joined Bro Dysynni Tywyn.

She’s also, along her journey, attended Aberystwyth’s Girls Performance centre.

Her current trainers and coaches, Gethin Jones and Sion Parry, suggested Evie for a trial for the North Wales Girls Academy.

She has been on trial for four weeks and she and her family have now had confirmation that she has recently passed the stage three of the talent showcase at Colliers Park in Wrexham.

As a result of this, she has been offered a place at the Academy (North Wales) which will start in July.

Evie’s parents, Gemma and Ben Holt, are extremely proud of their daughter.

They said: “She’s worked so hard during these four weeks of trials, as well as travelling to Wrexham she’s been training and playing matches for her Porthmadog team.”

Evie is excited to start in the academy and is grateful for the opportunity.

She said: “I am thrilled to now be a part of the North Wales squad and very grateful and excited for the opportunity."

She added that she would like to thank her dad for taking his time to travel all over Wales to all the matches and training sessions she’s attended.
