CRYMYCH showed the overall strength of their club as their Seconds retained the District Union Cup by beating old rivals Whitland 32-6 in the final to complete a well-deserved league and cup double.

A less-experienced Borderers’ outfit had pushed them hard in a tight first half where they led 6-5, thanks to two penalties from full back Geraint Jones, to an unconverted Crymych corner try by Mark Beasley, after a powerful forward drive.

Jones also had a third penalty shot, which he put wide, whilst Scott Newton’s long range penalty was also off target.

Both teams also had try-scoring chances, but they lost possession at key times in terrible weather conditions, which resembled November rather than late May.

The Preseli Men raised the tempo in the second half and their ability to take advantage of the opposition’s errors paid dividends as flanker Dylan Phillips scored a try, which was converted by Emyr Lewis to put them ahead for the first time.

Strong-running centre Tomi Jones added a third try, which Lewis converted, before he also slotted a penalty to secure the win.

Crymych used their replacement players to good effect, and replacements Llyw Rees and Michael Llewellyn crossed the whitewash for unconverted tries.

Crymych Under 18s also completed the double as they registered a 38-15 triumph over Neyland in the Griffiths Cup Final.

Tries from winger Will Lloyd-Morgan, Jake Jenkins and Jac Griffiths opened up 17-3 lead at the interval, before further tries from Ifan Phillips, Jac Griffiths and Llyr Davies sealed victory. Jenkins added three conversions, and Phillips kicked one.

Crymych’s first team overwhelmed Llangennech 59-21 to finish in a very respectable joint fifth in Division One West.

Crymych’s first-half tries were scored by Tomos Phillips, Rhodri Davies and Joe Powell, one converted by Rhys Davies.

In the second half Andrew Phillips, Aled Harries, Dion Gibby, Gavin Thomas, Rhys Davies and Sean Leonard went over and all six tries were converted by Davies.
