BONT bounced back from their League Cup defeat to local rivals Tregaron with a 5-2 win at home to Penrhyncoch Reserves, to move level on points with the Turfs at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League division one.

Bont had to work for it though, and after 10 minutes the visitors took the lead when Kyle Chillery caught Trevor Jenkins off his line to score from all of 45 yards.

The hosts responded well, and good work from Owen Evans found Tristan Jenkins to head home for his first goal since joining the club from Bow Street.

Then, 10 minutes later, the Tangerines took the lead when a cross was headed into his own goal by Andrew Wintle.

The visitors battled back to equalise on the hour when Mike Price tapped in from six yards out, after being left unmarked.

With 20 minutes to go, however, the hosts pushed on and they retook the lead when centre back Sion Jones started and finished a flowing, one-touch move with three players to chip the keeper from 20 yards, for his first goal of the season.

Good work by the returning Ben Lewis then saw Llion Jones tap home from two yards out, and with five minutes remaining Lee Jones unleashed an unstoppable thunderbolt from 25 yards in to the top corner to put the game beyond doubt.

Machynlleth Reserves notched their second league win with a 3-2 win over Talybont, as two goals from James Roberts and one from Sion Jones sealed the win.

Mach adapted to the conditions early on, as heavy rain for 30 minutes made flowing football impossible, with doubts as to whether the match would finish.

Talybont had equalised through keeper Ashley Wright, when his long punt down the pitch went over his opposite number and went into the net off the upright.

In the second half, Mach went into a two goal lead, but Anthony Vasquez reduced the deficit for Talybont towards the end.

Padarn United staged a thrilling comeback as they hit back from being 3-1 down to secure a hard earned 5-3 victory at home against Dolgellau Reserves.

Paul James netted a hat-trick for the home side and Jason Davies scored a double, after Dolgellau had earlier taken charge through goals by Dion Jones, Mike Worsell and George Townshend.

A Gethin ap Dafydd goal meanwhile earned Bow Street Reserves a battling 1-1 draw away against Llanilar, with Sion Jones scoring for the home team.

• PENPARCAU climbed to the top of the Cambrian Tyres division two with a 3-2 win at Llanon, with goals from Lee Morgan, Warren Sedgwick and Andy Evans.

Within eight minutes Jake Bush made a perfect pass for Lee Morgan to loop the ball over the keeper from 30 yards for the opening goal, but Llanon hit back a well-deserved equaliser by Simon Lovatt.

Penparcau, however, restored their lead on the half hour when a lovely ball through found Warren Sedgwick, who chipped over the on-rushing keeper.

Llanon started the second half brightly and they caught Penparcau cold when an in-swinging ball found Lovatt to make it 2-2 with his second goal of the game.

Penparcau brought on talented youngster Rhys Davies, and when he earned a free kick on the edge of the box, Sedgwick stepped up to curl the ball home for 3-2.

Then, on came former Cardiff City and Aberystwyth Town striker Andy Evans and he sealed the points with a header.

Goals from Aled Rumble, Sion Gittins and Leon Millward, with a brace, sealed a 4-1 win for Llanilar Reserves at Aberdyfi, who scored through Will Kendall.

Tim Holt meanwhile scored a well-taken hat-trick as Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves beat Padarn Reserves 8-0, with Ben Richards, Jordan Rodgers, Luke Rickard, with a brace, and Josh Taylor also scoring.
