BALA Town have moved a step closer to becoming another Welsh Premier club to install a synthetic 3G pitch, following a meeting with local societies, clubs and schools last Friday night.

Gwynedd Education and Leisure, Bala Rugby Club, Bala Sports and Recreation Association, Bala Vets FC, Bala Juniors FC, Bala Town Academy, Ysgol y Berwyn and Llanuwchllyn FC all pledged their support towards an application to the FAW.

In addition, the Lakesiders have received written pledges of support from Ysgol Bro Tegid, the Urdd Centre at Glanllyn, Barmouth and Dyffryn and the FAW.

"It was emphasised throughout the meeting that this is a community based opportunity for everyone’s involvement, and we are delighted to have had such a positive response from all concerned," said a statement from the club.

"The club are happy with the way that progress is being made towards an acceptable development submission to the FAW in the very near future."

Airbus, Llandudno, Newtown and TNS already play on 3G and Carmarthen Town are close to installing the surface at Richmond Park. Aberystwyth Town are also hoping to install a new 3G pitch as part of their developments at Park Avenue.
