Youngsters in a Llyn village have been going that extra mile to raise money to reopen their local park.

Children in Aberdaron and surrounding area have been denied the use of their playing fields for the last six months, after the community council, who own the playing field, had to take the difficult decision to close the facilities due to the poor condition of the playing apparatus.

The playing apparatus has had to be dismantled and the only apparatus that are in a condition to use again are the ‘swings’ all the others were deemed unsafe.

Now a small group of seven parents from Ysgol Crud y Werin have got together to form a playing field committee who have the task of raising money and sourcing grants for the new playing apparatus that is needed to re-open the playing fields.

Committee member Gwenllian Hughes-Jones said: “A small group of parents have recently got together to form a new playing field committee and we will be arranging various activities in the village to raise money and we will work closely with the Aberdaron Community Council to make sure that we get the Aberdaron playing fields back open as soon as possible.

"During the recent months a Bryn Fôn concert was held and organised by the owners of the Ty Newydd public house in the village with the money donated to the playing fields committee and recently a group of parents and children from the village held a car wash at the school were donations were accepted and a total of £260.71 was raised.”
