LAST Friday night at Bethesda Rugby Club, Eryri YFC held its annual rugby sevens tournament followed by a humorous eisteddfod.

Llanrwst prevailed in the rugby and a mixed team from Caernarfon, Dyffryn Nantlle and Dyffryn Ogwen came first in the silly eisteddfod.

Although playing conditions were not the best for the rugby, all the teams were keen to get out on the pitch.

It was clear that Llanrwst’s players held an understanding from their experience of playing together as they scored try after try in their games to come out on top.

Members then gathered in the clubhouse for a night full of games, led by past members Aled Williams and Gwilym Wyn.

“Eating a whole lemon and trying to eat a custard cream with no hands was proving difficult tonight after the rugby,” said Dafydd Sion, Eryri YFC chairman.

“I had thought I would be too stiff to reach the clubhouse after the rugby, but a good gang of members turned out and enjoyed the games very much.”

Eryri YFC and hopefully the rugby sevens winners will represent Eryri at the Wales tournament at the Royal Welsh Show in July.
