WORLD-RENOWNED climber Eric Jones will be giving an inspirational talk about his adventures around, and on top of, the globe at Harlech Leisure Centre next month.
The 79-year-old, who lives between Tremadog and Beddgelert, will be giving the much-anticipated lecture on Thursday, 30 March.
Eric was raised on a farm near Ruthin and as a boy he was interested in parachuting and skydiving, unsurprisingly wanting to sign up with the Parachute Regiment.
However, an earlier injury — a result of a motorbike accident — led to him joining the military police instead.
The father of two took up skydiving in 1961 and a year later, at the age of 26, began climbing.
He climbed extensively in Snowdonia and the Lake District, scaling higher peaks and tougher terrain, eventually taking on various climbs in the Alps.
At his peak, Eric conducted his most well-known solo ascent of the north face of the Elger, and will also talk about his climbs on the Matterhorn and South Col on Everest.
He has also climbed the Central Pillar of Brouillard on Mont Blanc and Bonatti Pillar on the Aiguille du Dru.
