A Ceredigion dad has gone viral after an unorthodox goalkeeping move in a football match between two Aberystwyth junior teams was caught on video.
Chris Wilkins was at a match between Llanilar and Bow Street under-8s on pitches in Llanbadarn on Saturday morning when Bethan Davies captured the moment the mini-goalie’s dad gave his son a shove in the ball’s direction.
The Bow Street keeper made the save in stunning fashion, but Llanilar followed up to score.
The eight-second clip has now been watched nearly 13 million times with viewers as far away as the USA and Japan.
Chris, who is from Llanilar, says his phone has been on fire since he first tweeted out the video, with sports giants ESPN and Sky Sports getting in touch.
The clip also caught the attention of former Wales and Everton keeper, Neville Southall, who on Twitter simply said: "keep hold of first ball".
The clip is due to appear on Sky Sports’ flagship football programme Soccer AM this weekend and Chris said he is hoping all the exposure could lead to the junior league in Aberystwyth getting more equipment and maybe a chance for the players to meet the Welsh national team.
