Ysgol Uwchradd
YEAR 7 pupils from Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn have spent a wet, windy few days practising their Welsh.A group of lucky students visited Glanllyn Outdoor Activity Centre recently and spent two days enjoying a series of activities, all through the medium of Welsh.Ffion Freeman, one of the fortunate children who participated, thoroughly enjoyed herself.“During our visit we took part in four activities – rock climbing, raft building, high ropes and canoeing,” Ffion said.“I guess the rain wasn’t really a problem as the activities on the lake meant we were going to get wet anyway!“I learned that it can be sometimes hard to work in teams, especially big teams. I also gained a bit more confidence and I think I even learnt a bit more Welsh.”Helen Lewis, headteacher at Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn, was one of the trip’s supervisors. She said: “It was a pleasure to spend time with the Year 7 pupils at Glanllyn, a rare opportunity which I thoroughly enjoyed. “They embraced the whole Welsh ethos and relished the chance to show what they can do, through using Welsh and through the activities. I was proud to be associated with them and to be amongst them. I have booked my place again for next year!”
