A LLANIDLOES artist who made it through to the final of an art competition on national television has vowed to ‘make a big name for himself’ now the series is over.

Callum Stephen made it through to the final four of BBC One’s The Big Painting Challenge, despite being the youngest and least experienced of the 10 competitors who started the show.

The 23-year-old bricklayer, who specialises in photorealism, made through all six weeks of the artistic boot camp and says he learnt a lot along the way.

“The show was fantastic, a great experience, a great learning curve, and I understand so much more about different methods,” Callum said.

“For now I will strive to make a big name for myself on my own in the big art world.

“I like use my photorealism skills to show people what they haven’t seen before.”
