A GRIEVING brother will visit every Welsh lifeboat station in memory of Pwllheli RNLI’s Barry Davies.

Nigel Davies, who used to be shore crew at Pwllheli RNLI, is walking the coast of Wales and visiting every lifeboat station on the way to raise money for the RNLI in memory of his brother Barry.

The police officer and volunteer Pwllheli RNLI boat crew member, died in 2020 following a jetski accident, He was 49.

Now Nigel, who runs the Druid Inn near Aberystwyth, wants to raise money for the charity which played a big part in Barry’s life for 13 years.

He will walk the coast in separate legs twice a week for 10 to 12 hours at a time.

He started in Chester and on Monday, 17 October, reached Pwllheli RNLI lifeboat station where he was greeted by Pwllheli RNLI mechanic Alwyn Roberts and lifeboat operations manager Andy Vowell.

Nigel said: “I walk on my own and enjoy the peace and quiet, though some people have joined me on the way.

“Fortunately I haven’t had any blisters, and I am feeling a bit fitter.

“I fell off a ladder and broke my back three years ago. They said I would never walk again, but now I’walking around Wales.”

Nigel drives to his next starting point, where he finished on the previous leg, and then catches the bus back to his car, or his daughter collects him.

He plans to carry on walking until the end of October and then start again next spring to finish his memory walk at Chepstow.

Andy Vowell said: “It was great to greet Nigel, as he sets off on another leg of his challenge.

“His accomplishment so far is fantastic and already raised a great deal of money for the RNLI.

“We all wish him well with the rest of his challenge.

All the money raised will be donated to the RNLI.
