A large crowd braved the cold on Saturday to cheer the Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge team into Machynlleth.
BBC The One Show presenter Matt Baker and a host of youngsters are riding a rickshaw across the country to raise money for disadvantaged children. And the crew described the views on the Machynlleth leg of the journey “undoubtedly a huge highlight”.
The team stayed the night in Machynlleth on Saturday, 9 November after completing the Gwynedd leg of their 400-mile route. While in the town, they accepted a £100 donation from the local Rotary Club.
Speaking of their journey, the crew said: “With snow settling on the hilltops, the breathtakingly beautiful views were undoubtedly a huge highlight for the team, along with the supportive crowds who came out in force despite the freezing temperatures.”
Machynlleth councillor Michael Williams said it was “exceptional”.“I really do admire the people who are raising money for such a brilliant cause,” he said.
“I congratulate everybody involved for raising money for the cause of children.
“It is an indictment on society that we need to raise money through charitable means. But it is fantastic and I really do admire them all.”
