A DOLGELLAU thrill-seeker has dominated a TV survival show and netted himself £10,000.
The Meirionnydd man who won this year’s outdoor series Ar y Dibyn hopes that the grand prize will help him set up a business as a mountain leader.
In the end, presenters Dilwyn Sanderson-Jones and Lowri Morgan decided that father-of-two Ifan Richards was this year’s winner.
“Winning Ar y Dibyn champion in the Year of Adventure sounds great,” said Ifan, who works as a mechanical fitter for Dwr Cymru.
“I never expected to win at the start. It was quite an emotional experience to win the prize.
“The prize is going to have a very positive effect on my life.
“The things I want to do with the prize will open new doors for me."
The final challenge saw the finalists lead a crew on a sailing boat, before attempting to rescuing their outdoor mentor Dilwyn after he fell overboard.
The prize, totalling £10,000, includes funds to earn outdoor instructor qualifications, to help buy equipment and to send Ifan on an expedition of his choice.
The 38-year-old’s next step will be to earn qualifications as an outdoor instructor so that he can lead groups up the mountains of South Snowdonia, close to his Meirionnydd home.
