A GWYNEDD swimming club is raising funds to send 22 of its older members to a week-long 50-metre training camp. Swim Gwynedd was formed from Menai Performance Centre in 2007 and draws members from Bangor, Caernarfon, Eryri and Harlech swimming clubs. Some members recently competed at the Swim Wales National Championships in Swansea where they won a total of 33 individual medals.
A spokesperson for the swimming club said: “Most competitions in Wales and the UK are held in 50-meter pools but unfortunately there are none in north Wales for the club to practice in.
“In order to continue to be competitive, the club is raising funds towards sending 22 of its older members to a week long 50-metre training camp.”
As part of its efforts, the club will open a pop-up shop in Porthmadog on May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
The shop will be open between 30 April – 2 May at the old Bargains 4 U shop near the roundabout on the high street.
