DREAMS of a new skatepark in Pwllheli have been dashed due to lack of funding.
In October 2013, Pwllheli Town Council made the decision to demolish the town’s skate park for health and safety reasons.
The decision shocked many of the regular skatepark users who then sparked a campaign to re-open the play area.
Several meetings have been held since the closure by the Friends of Pwllheli Skatepark to come up with ideas on how to bring a skatepark back to the town.
The group received enormous support through social media with many eager to see a new skatepark established in the town.
However, due to lack of funding the Friends have confirmed it won’t be possible to build a new skatepark.
Alice Horwood, a member of the Friends of Pwllheli Skatepark and also a member of Pwllheli Town Council, said: “Pwllheli Skatepark Committee was originally set up to help raise funds to maintain the skatepark in Pwllheli.
“We are now unable to continue with the efforts of raising funds to build a new skatepark in Pwllheli.”
