A SERVICE has been held at a Llangegryn church to celebrate the completion of repairs to a collapsed wall.
The celebration of thanksgiving was held at St Mary and St Egryn’s Church, near Tywyn, on Saturday to mark the rebuilding of the medieval wall around the churchyard.
The wall collapsed onto a neighbour’s land over 15 months ago.
The congregation also marked the results of a project and a survey which has seen the outside and inside of the Grade I listed church painstakingly photographed and then modelled to give 3D images of the building.
The project will soon be available to the public on the internet.
The service at the church was created and led by Rev Janet Fletcher in the presence of the Ven Andrew Carroll Jones and Rev Richard Vroom as well as many members of the community.
Rev Fletcher said the project will ensure that the church – parts of which were built in the 13th century – and its supporters “can look forward to the next 750 years”.
A talk about the recent church survey was followed by a picnic and an open-air service as well as children’s crafts.See this week's north editions for the full story, in shops and online now
