Two beaches on the Llyn Peninsula have been named in the top 10 best beaches in Wales by The Sunday Times.
Porth Ysgo near Aberdaron and Porthor beach, close to Methlem, came second and third in the list.
The list was compiled as part of the 13th edition of The Sunday Times’ best British beach guide, a comprehensive guide to the UK coast, by travel writer Chris Haslam.
Traeth Lligwy on Anglesey has been named by the guide as the best beach in Wales.
Five beaches in Pembrokeshire also featured in the top 10 including Newgale, Freshwater West and Whitesands.
Woolacombe Beach in Devon was picked out as the beach of the year by the paper.
During the course of creating the guide, Chris drove just short of 6,000 miles, visiting 805 named beaches on the British mainland.
The list of over 800 was then cut down to just 50 for the guide.
Chris said that he is “delighted” to report that our seaside is in much better shape than he’d anticipated.
