LOCAL MP Liz Saville Roberts is calling for a change in the leadership of Plaid Cymru.
Ms Saville Roberts, MP for Dwyfor Meirionydd since 2015, has joined her fellow Plaid Cymru MPs, Hywel Williams and Jonathan Edwards, by backing Adam Price to be the party’s next leader.
Mr Price is in contest with current leader Leanne Wood and Ynys Mon AM, Rhun ap Iorwerth, to be head of the Party of Wales.
Ceredigion MP Ben Lake has announced he is supporting Mr ap Iorwerth, meaning all four Plaid MPs are seeking a change in leader.
In a personal statement, Ms Saville Roberts confirmed she was backing Mr Price, who is AM for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.
“I am proud that our party has people of such calibre as the three candidates,” she said.
“Undoubtedly the other two have a further huge contribution to make.
“But I believe that in a period of such danger for our nation it’s Adam Price AC/AM who has the outstanding vision and the ability to lead.”
