Pre-school age children in Penparcau could soon enjoy a brand new facility to be developed on the grounds of the existing primary school.
Planning permission has been granted to build a new pre-school childcare facility at Llwyn yr Eos Community Primary School on the school fields between the main school building and the early years building.
The proposal for the new Ffrindiau Bach yr Eos facility, replacing an existing portable cabin, includes two main nursery rooms, a quiet/sleeping room, meeting room, offices, kitchen, stores, plant room, toilet areas and circulation areas in a single storey structure.
Also using the school camps site is a family centre, community education centre, Flying Start and there is a community woodland area.
The application for the new dedicated building to “address the needs and requirements of the school” was made by Ceredigion County Council’s economy and regeneration officer Paul Thomas and approved by council planning officers on 15 July.
Aberystwyth Town Council had no objections to the plans while concerns about privacy of a nearby resident were raised.
“The proposals makes use of an existing site, replacing an existing porta-cabin (sic) structure that has come to the end of its life,” states a planning report.
