WORK is progressing well on developing the new 3G pitch in Bala.
Representatives from Bala Town FC, Gwynedd Council and local schools recently visited the site to see how the development is coming along.
The new synthetic 3G surface will be installed at Maes Tegid and the work completed over the next few weeks, with an official opening to be held in early autumn.
This innovative scheme is jointly funded by Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Football Association.
The football-mad town, which renamed itself ‘Bale’ over the summer months to reflect Wales’ success in the European Championships, will benefit greatly from the enhanced community facility.
Cllr Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet member for education, said: “I am very pleased to see that the 3G pitch is moving along so well.
“This is an important development for the community and the schools in the Bala catchment, and one that offers quality resources and opportunities to pupils during school hours as well as users of Bala FC and other clubs in the area.”
In addition to the investment of £10m to establish a modern 3-19 learning campus on the current site of Ysgol y Berwyn, a library, community cinema as well as the 3G pitch will be available as additional community services for Bala.
