THOUSANDS of women and girls laced up their running shoes for the annual Race for Life event on Sunday, raising money in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Runners, who could take part in either a 5k or 10k run, dressed in pink and many paid tributes to loved ones who have battled cancer with banners.
