COMMUNITY leaders in Pwllheli have voiced their objections to new parking regulations being proposed by Gwynedd Council in the town.
In February, Gwynedd Council decided to update its parking fees across the county and are looking at introducing pay-and-display arrangements in 24 council car parks that are currently free to use.
Pwllheli could see parking meters installed at the car park near the Black Lion, at Penmount and at South Beach (the Promenade) under the new regulations.
At a Pwllheli Town Council meeting the majority of councillors objected to the new proposals.
Members felt it would be unfair to charge drivers to park at the Black Lion and Penmount as it is used mostly by the residents and workers of the town and that it would be harsh to ask them to pay extra money to park their car.
A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “Following the discussions with local representatives regarding the proposed changes, the council recently carried out a public consultation exercise which came to an end on 9 May.
The council will now be considering all objections presented before deciding on the way forward.”
