OSIAN Davies, a pupil of Ysgol Bro Teifi, Llandysul, has been chosen to become a Platinum Young Ambassador in Ceredigion.

The Young Ambassador programme, delivered by Ceredigion Actif, aims to empower and inspire young people to become leaders through sport and help encourage their peers to become keen on keeping fit.

Osian is one of 26 young people who have been chosen across Wales who will join together to run the Young Ambassador programme across the country.

Osian is the third person to become a Platinum Young Ambassador in Ceredigion since 2012.

Alwyn Davies, Active Young People manager from Ceredigion Actif, said: “We are very proud of Osian being selected as a Platinum Young Ambassador and representing Ceredigion on the National Steering Group.

“It shows his commitment to the Young Ambassador initiative and is a reward for his contribution to our Active Young People programme.”

In September 2017, Osian was selected to become a Silver Young Ambassador and went on to attend training with the Active Young People team for the Leadership Programme.

Through completion of the training, Osian was able to help deliver a Cricket programme for Key Stage 3 pupils during his school lunchtime.

In addition to these sessions, Osian helped the school’s Rugby Development Officer deliver rugby sessions for a range of ages throughout the school.

In January 2018, Osian was promoted to Gold Young Ambassador in recognition of his work across the county.

Following this, Osian began helping out at an after-school sports club and coach a range of different activities at Primary School Sports Festivals.

He also trains a girls rugby team, ‘Y Gwiberod’ in Newcastle Emlyn.
