A FLEET of Minis including one once owned by Princess Margaret descended on Aberaeron for the annual Ceredigion Minis on the Prom event.
Originally held for several years on Aberystwyth promenade, organisers are hoping to bring the event back to Aberystwyth next year after a break of several years following a dispute over how the prom can be used for such events.
Talks over the event returning are continuing, but the show went ahead again in Aberaeron on Sunday, 27 May, over the bank holiday weekend with around 40 Minis joining from around Wales and beyond.
Many of the cars joined in a convoy from south Wales, organised by Mini clubs in Newport and Cardiff.
The best car in show went to a Mini formerly owned by Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden which had been lovingly renovated and restored by David Boswell of Penparcau.
Mr Boswell, who also showed a Mini once owned by Ronald Dark, believed to have been an associate of the armed robber-turned-journalist John McVicar and other known criminals, said that he is “hopeful” the event will make a return to Aberystwyth next year.
Mr Boswell, who bought the car formerly owned by Princess Margaret in around 1976 or 1977, said that he had to do “a lot of work” on the car after it was written off following a series of crashes.
