A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy who has had open heart surgery has donated his birthday money to the British Heart Foundation at Llangrannog.

Llew John from Efailwen, Carmarthenshire, was born with a heart condition and underwent his first open heart surgery when he was just nine days old.

He has had two further open heart surgeries, the last one was in June 2017.

Llew has never allowed his condition to determine what he can or cannot do and lives a very full and active life thanks to the vital research carried out by the BHF.

Llew said: ”I wanted to give something back to BHF as I am fit and enjoy playing so many sports, including my favourite sport which is football.

“I was so delighted with the amount raised and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped and supported.”

In total, a wonderful £425 was raised to help BHF research. As a result of this, Mr Hearty the BHF mascot came to thank the children for all their help and support at Llangrannog beachfront.

Jayne Lewis, fundraising manager for south-west Wales, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Llew and his family and friends to thank them for all their help and support they have given to BHF.”

“Thank you to all the children, who include Llew, Mabli, Eben, Twm, Deio, Gwilym, Bleddyn and Besi, and also to the families, and in particular a big thank you to Llew and his family for all their support.”
