CAR parks in Aberaeron should be made free in the mornings to encourage local people to come into town.

That is the belief of Cllr Elizabeth Evans who claimed Ceredigion County Council’s fee-paying system was unfair.

“Aberystwyth has three hours of free parking,” she told fellow members of Aberaeron Town Council.

“There’s no parity – Ceredigion should look at towns across the county and give us something.

“Let’s make parking free in the mornings so local people can come into town and meet up with friends over a coffee or simply to buy a newspaper.

“Our prices are expensive compared to other counties so we need to look at this issue again and make it a level playing field.

“A car park review is coming and we had one only two years ago.”
