A ground-breaking series that celebrates Wales’ unique landscape and wildlife in a way never seen before starts soon on S4C.

Fronted by Llanystumdwy poet and musician, Twm Morys, the series Cymru Wyllt was filmed over a period of a year which saw Wales suffer the most extreme weather in decades.

From the snowstorms caused by The Beast from the East last spring to the driest summer recorded for many years, this series showcases Wales’ natural habitats in all their glory.

“I have never seen a nature series about Welsh wildlife which quite compares with this one in terms of quality, passion and atmosphere,” says Twm, who scripts and narrates the series.

He adds: “This series succeeds in truly portraying the wealth of our countryside and wildlife, revealing facets of the lives of our fauna and flora that I have never seen before. Some of the scenes that reveal their secret lives were incredible.”

The four-part series was commissioned by BBC Cymru Wales for S4C and produced by Plimsoll Productions, a company that specialises in filming wildlife in their natural habitats. It was broadcast as Wales: Land of the Wild on BBC One Wales.
