A DISABLED people’s arts and social group has presented a mosaic and plaque to Bronglais Hospital’s children’s ward in memory of a founder member who died recently.

Penparcau Progressive Action Group, whose members meet at 10am every Wednesday at Neuadd Goffa in Penparcau, was set up to help people living with various illnesses and disabilities come together, socialise and forget about their conditions.

Following the success of the group’s nativity mosaic for Christmas, the group created an Easter mosaic and loaned it to St Anne’s Church, Penparcau.

Sadly, the last remaining founder member of PPAG, Barry Keeler, who was living with the effects of a stroke, passed away shortly after Easter. In memory of Barry, who was 72, PPAG have donated the Easter mosaic and a plaque honouring him to Bronglais Hospital, where they will be placed in the children’s ward waiting playroom.

Norma Round-Dipple, of PPAG, said Barry was the “kingpin” of PPAG and is “sorely missed” by all of the members.

Norma said the group is always looking for members, regardless of age, and encouraged people to come along for two hours on a Wednesday morning.
