A LLANENGAN woman is set to showcase her craft work to thousands of people at two highly regarded fairs in the UK.
The latest collection from 26-year-old designer Miriam Jones will be on display at this year’s Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester and Made by Hand 2016 in Cardiff this month.
Miriam was successful with her application in securing her place at both shows, which are known for championing talent, by impressing the panel with her products.
The former Ysgol Botwnnog pupil is a wood turner based in her home village of Llanengan and incorporates language and poetry into her work through laser etching onto the wood.
She said: “In 2015 I gained financial support from ‘Be Nesa Llyn’ group who offer business support for young entrepreneurs to set up their businesses on the Llyn Peninsula.
“Through their help I was able to purchase a laser cutter which has transformed my business and products and allows me to create unique, handmade gifts with personalised messages for my customers.”
Shortly after, Miriam was selected for a commission to create a bespoke coffee table which is placed in the library at Ty Newydd, Llanystumdwy, and former World War One Prime Minister Lloyd George’s home which is now a literature centre.
