Cambrian Angling
DAFYDD Williams presided over the Cambrian Angling Association’s AGM where he was glad to report on the increase in junior members who after all are the future of the Blaenau Ffestiniog-based association and thanked members for their loyal support in the various work they had to do over the past season. He added that the association would look into what they can do about the problems of reeds and other growth in the lakes and read out the various 2015 competition winners. Treasurer Cecil Daniels gave a detailed financial report stating that they had made a profit over the year thanks to an increase in membership members and the biggest outlay was nearly £3,500 in stocking of the Ffridd and Morwynion Lakes. The secretary Geraint Vaughan Jones mentioned the loss of loyal committee member in Anthony McNally and also of the well-known angler Moc Morgan. He added that they were in contact with the Land Registry regarding some lakes and their surroundings as well as in the process of finalising an agreement with the Go Below Company at Cwmorthin regarding access to their site through the Association’s land. Mention was also made by the secretary of those who had worked hard over the past year including the chairman and there are plans for the future of a boat hut at Morwynion and better the access facility to Gamallt Lake. The growing problems of fly tipping in the area was mentioned and members were told to report any such instances to the relevant authorities. It was reported that the Welsh/English versions of the association’s constitu-tion is available and a draft copy of the Cwmorthin Lake’s boat usage and booking procedure was presented. The officials were re-elected, namely: chair, Dafydd Williams; vice-chair, Bleddyn Williams; treasurer, Cecil Daniels; secretary, Geraint Vaughan Jones; marketing official, Mark Evans; press officer, Meirion Ellis and the committee members are Mel Goch ap Meirion, Glyn Daniels, Wyn Davies, Elwyn and William Ellis, Meical and Alderyn Evans, Alwyn Ll and Steven Hughes, Adrian, Alfyn , Alwyn and Elgan Jones. Meurig Roberts, Eurwel Thomas and Edgar and Vincent Williams. Good news for the anglers is that the season fees remain the same with senior tickets. The meeting ended with the chair wishing the mem-bers the best for the coming season and reminding them on the limit of fish to be caught at certain lakes is still in progress.
