A LORRY driver who became trapped in his vehicle during an early morning crash near Pwllheli needed to be released by fire-fighters.

Emergency services were called to the A499, near Ysbyty Bryn Beryl, just before 3.45am on Tuesday, 12 April after reports a lorry had crashed into a wall and had become wedged against a telegraph pole.

Fire crews from Abersoch, Pwllheli and Caernarfon were called to the incident and removed the driver, who had become trapped inside of the lorry.

The driver did not need hospital treatment.

A spokesman for the Wales Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.40am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry on the Caernarfon Rd, near Pwllheli. We attended with an emergency ambulance and a male adult was treated at the scene for a minor injury and not conveyed to hospital.”

North Wales Police and the highways department closed off the road for almost five hours whilst recovery of the lorry was made and a spillage was cleared.
