A KIND-HEARTED Porthmadog business has helped feed the hero ambulance crew members who were on duty on Christmas Day.

The Royal Sportsman Hotel in the town provided a roast Christmas Day lunch to members of the North Wales Ambulance Service who were on duty in the town on the day.

The chefs prepared a takeaway plated roast turkey lunch with all the trimmings for eight members of staff providing emergency cover for the area.

More than 400 members of staff across 86 stations and three contact centres were working on 25 December.

The hotel took part in the Welsh Ambulance Service initiative which arranged and paid for around 30 hotels, pubs and restaurants across Wales to feed their staff working on Christmas Day.

The Royal Sportsman’s hotel marketing manager, Ian Spindley said: “We are delighted the organisers chose the Sportsman in the Porthmadog area to feed the sometimes heroic and always hardworking North Wales Ambulance Service staff locally. We hope they found time to relax and enjoy their lunch as much as the 85 customers and guests eating drinking and making merry in our restaurant, lounge and bar.”

The North Wales Ambulance Service has thanked all the pubs, hotels and restaurants who have kindly helped their staff out.
