Montgomeryshire Society Competition
PUPILS from Llanidloes High School enjoyed considerable success in the recent Montgomeryshire Society Competition, which was set up to promote art and writing in both English and Welsh. Mrs S Williams, head of the English faculty, said: “Our pupils have enjoyed another successful year in the Montgomeryshire Society Competition.“It’s wonderful to see such commitment to art and writing, and our winners provide great role models for the rest of the school.”
Bookshop
THE author Peter Ellis has just published his third book in his fantasy trilogy for YA and adult readers. They are set in mid Wales and this last book is set in the area around Staylittle. He visited the Great Oak Bookshop last year to talk about and promote his books and he is back on Friday, 1 April, between 11am and 1pm. Vol.1 Seventh Child has been shortlisted for the Wishing Shelf Award for teenage fiction this spring.
Arwystli Society
THE Arwystli Society of Llanidloes, a local History Group, holds an AGM on 20 April, followed by A History of Arwystli: Problems and Prospects, a lecture by Dr David Stephenson, at St Idloes Church Hall, 7.30pm.
Tenovus
LLANIDLOES Tenovus is launching a new Llanidloes Fund-raising Group, which need enthusiastic friends to help plan events in the local community. It could be quizzes, craft fairs or coffee mornings. Refugee support group
FOR February and March the support group are collecting wind up torches and hot water bottles to be sent to refugees. The collection points in Llanidloes are Natural Foods, Great Oak Street and the Old Mill. Any donations of these items will be extremely welcome
