A LIGHTNING strike in Pembrokeshire led to around 150 properties and businesses hit by a brief power cut in the Aberystwyth area today, Friday, 27 May.
The power cut happened shortly before 2.30pm and lasted around nine minutes.
A Scottish Power Distribution spokesperson said: “At 2.25pm, we became aware of the power cut, which was due to a lightning strike in the area.
“Approximately 150 customers were affected and the fault originated in the Alexandra Road area of Aberystwyth.
“Customers would have experienced a loss of power for no more than nine minutes.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The spokesperson said the lightning strike in Pembrokeshire had caused problems with Western Power Distribution’s network which had a knock-on effect to the Scottish Power Distribution network.
