An Aberystwyth supermarket has back-tracked on plans to slash parking times for customers in the run-up to Christmas, following pressure from residents and the Cambrian News.
Lidl, which owns the Rheidol Retail Park, erected signs in the car park last week cutting the allowed free parking time from two hours to 90 minutes without any warning, leading to uproar.
Following questions from the Cambrian News however, the budget supermarket giant performed a U-turn and said that “in light of feedback” from residents it would continue to offer two hours of free parking.
The signs, erected in the car park last week, will now be changed, the company added.
There was uproar among residents when the new signs were installed last week at the retail park, limiting parking to 90 minutes.
After acquiring the freehold of the entire retail park last year, Lidl has employed parking company Athena to oversee the running of the car park.
