MACHYNLLETH Library has picked up an award for its Christmas display.
Libraries across Powys took part in a Christmas display competition as part of the holiday season.
‘A Traditional Christmas’ was the theme, and Machynlleth library was announced as the winner of the medium sized library category
The competition was judged on three categories, one for a larger branch library, a medium-sized library and for a smaller branch library. An independent judge chose the winners based on photographs submitted, which were numbered so that the judge had no idea where the displays came from.
Newtown Library won the large branch library category while Machynlleth Library was awarded the medium-sized library and the small branch category went to Rhayader. Prizes were donated by members of staff within the council’s Library Service.
Cllr Graham Brown, Cabinet member for library services, presented the libraries with their prizes.
“Library staff are very resourceful and have taken on many additional parts to their jobs, including providing the initial face to face contact for many other council services, through the library+ project,” said Cllr Brown.
