A WOMAN with cerebral palsy has completed a one mile swim across Talyllyn Lake to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Katie Collinswood, from Tywyn, completed the swim on Friday, 13 August.

Katie has so far raised over £900 in memory of her former physiotherapist and friend who she lost to cancer.

She told the Cambrian News how the swim went and why she wanted to raise the money for this charity.

Katie said: “The swim went really well. I completed it in around one hour and 40 minutes.

“I very sadly lost Clare Horton, who was my physiotherapist of seven years and also a friend of mine, to mouth cancer two years ago in October.”

She added: “I did the swim with two other people who are part of a swimming group I’m involved with through Facebook.

“So far I have raised about £900. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their donations. It means a lot.

“I am planning on doing another charity swim next year.”

Katie’s fundraising page remains open.

“If anyone else would like to donate, I have a just giving page for people to visit,” Katie said.
