A VETERINARY nurse has taken in a bewildered hedgehog after discovering it has no eyes.

Kirsty Lack, who works at Cambrian Vets in Tywyn, fell in love with the confused but spiny mammal after it was brought into her surgery by a concerned local.

The typically nocturnal animal had been portraying some unusual behaviour, by walking around in broad daylight.

Dubbing her new pet ‘Baroness Snuffleworth’, Kirsty said: “We thought she was poorly because she had been seen coming out in the day time a lot and didn’t roll into a ball when she ‘saw’ you. Turns out, its because she’s got no eyes. I’m going to keep her I think, she will be OK outside as she can still find food.

“It’s just the worry of predators but I have an enclosed garden and no night-time visitors or dogs and my cats are indoor. I can put hedgehog food out for her and keep an eye on her then too!”
