A SURVIVOR of multiple heart attacks has raised hundreds of pounds for charity just two years after he successfully overcame open heart surgery.

Pete Priestly, of Llanegryn, took on a two-mile trek throughout Tywyn on Monday wearing outrageous pink fancy dress and raising money for breast cancer charities.

Pete and nine others battled through the wind and rain to complete their honourable endeavour.

It is a remarkable turn-around for 61-year-old Pete who spent hours on the operating table in November 2015 undergoing open heart surgery.

Pete was delighted with how the event went.

“I haven’t been around to collect the total sum yet but I estimate we’ve raised about £500-600,” Pete told the Cambrian News.

“It was a fantastic day and all 10 of us had fun – even if it was a little bit damp!

“It was a miserable day in fairness but we still managed to raise a lot of money from passers-by on the day.

“I just want to thank everyone who walked with me, sponsored me, baked cakes or helped out in anyway at all.

“A big thank you to the Healthy Eating Club which meets every Thursday in Tywyn, they’ve been fantastic, especially Mary.”

Sponsor forms are still available in Tywyn and Aberdyfi should anyone wish to donate.
