Pupils at a Lampeter school have been asked to self isolate for 14 days following the confirmation of a Covid-19 case.
Reception classes in the primary sector of Ysgol Bro Pedr have been asked to self isolate this evening in a letter from the head, Jane Wyn.
The news follows the decision to close seven schools in Cardigan and the surrounding area for two weeks following a ‘significant number’ of coronavirus cases in that area.
In the letter to parents, Mrs Wyn said: “Today, pupils in the Reception Classes, Primary Sector, Ysgol Bro Per, have ben asked to self-isolate for 14 days following the confirmation of a Covid-19 case.
"The contact group has been asked to self-isolate due to being close contacts of a confirmed Covid-19 case.
“These pupils and staff must remain at home for 14 days to reduce the spread of the virus to family, friends and the wider community.
“Due to the impact of the positive case on staffing levels in the Under 5 Unit, the Nursery class will be closed for a fortnight.
“The pupils in the nursery class will not need to self-isolate as they are not a contact of the positive case.
“Therefore, the whole under 5 unit will be closed until Monday, 7 December.
“The class teachers of the nursery and reception classes will set work for pupils via Teams, Parental and the school’s website.
“Other than pupils in the Under 5 Unit, the school will be open to all school pupils tomorrow (Monday) as usual.”
