MOTORISTS using Bronglais Hospital’s car park to park for free, and then walking into town, have been criticised for taking up spaces meant for hospital patients.

Ceredigion councillor Paul Hinge said he had spoken with hospital managers after he was alerted to the fact that there had been cases of motorists parking in the hospital car park and walking into town.

Hospital chiefs had attempted to ensure more spaces were available for patients and their visitors by asking staff not to use the car park at the site, and Cllr Hinge praised the effort they had made and the support shown by the staff.

But he said he was disappointed after learning that there had been examples of people parking at the hospital and walking into town.

A spokesperson for Hywel Dda Health Board urged people not to park at the hospital unless they are attending the facility.

They said: “We kindly remind visitors to Bronglais Hospital that parking spaces are intended for use only by those with business at the hospital. Using these spaces for any other business is taking a spot away from someone you may know attending appointments or visiting loved ones.”
