A TERMINALLY ill Capel Bangor man could be forced out of Ceredigion after a private care company said it was withdrawing his care services for “logistical” reasons.

Barry Jones and his family have been given just a few weeks’ notice after Affinity Homecare said it would end Mr Jones’ care from 4 December.

The company is also withdrawing care services from several other people in north Ceredigion.

Mr Jones, who was born and bred in Capel Bangor, has Motor Neurone Disease and his daughter Beverley said the removal of care services at his home meant he could be forced into a care home in Newtown or Tywyn as there are no suitable locations in Ceredigion.

Beverley said: “Dad’s condition is terminal and there is no cure. His wish has always been to remain at home during this last phase in his life and it’s upsetting that it now seems this will not be the case. We, as a family, have all been rocked by this news. It couldn’t have come at a worse time, the run up to the festive period.”

Retired gravedigger Barry added: “I am terminally ill and I wish to remain at home for as long as possible, especially to spend Christmas with my children and grandchildren.

“I am extremely disappointed in how the system has let me down.”
