THE NURSING team at Dolgellau Hospital have scooped a top national award.
Staff nurse Anne Thomas and her team at the Dolgellau Hospital Outpatient Department were handed the Community Nursing Award at this year’s RCNi Nurse Awards, hosted by television and radio presenter Kate Garraway.
The awards are seen as the profession’s top accolade for nursing excellence.
They recognise and reward nurses who have come up with new ways to improve health outcomes, enhance patient experiences and transform nursing practice.
Anne said the team were “honoured” to receive the award.
She said: “The Dolgellau Outpatient Department team were honoured to receive the RCNi annual award for our community work in a prestigious ceremony in London.
“We were competing with inspirational nurses from all areas of the UK and we were delighted that a small rural community hospital could achieve this accolade.
“Addressing men’s health inequalities is an important issue and the award will help us to raise awareness of their health needs and strategies that can make a difference.
“We had a wonderful time at the awards ceremony which made us feel very proud to work for the NHS and to represent BCUHB.”
