BRONGLAIS Hospital’s A&E department has continued to be the best performing major unit in Wales with figures showing that the A&E department saw over 83 per cent of patients within four hours in January 2018.
While figures show that fewer patients attended at the A&E department in January compared to December 2017, there was a slight decline in the percentage of patients seen inside the four-hour target time.
Despite that, Bronglais was the only major A&E unit in Wales to see more than 80 per cent of patients within four hours.
The statistics show that 83.3 per cent of patients were seen inside the four hour target, with Prince Charles Hospital in Cwm Tâf seeing 79.8 per cent of patients inside the target time.
Glangwili Hospital and Withybush Hospital were also amongst the best performing major units with Glangwili the fifth best performing unit, seeing 79 per cent of patients within four hours, and Withybush seeing 76.1 per cent of patients inside four hours, making it the sixth best performing major unit in Wales.
In January, a total of 2,168 patients attended the Bronglais A&E compared to 2,282 in December 2017.
In December, 85.7 per cent of the patients were seen within four hours.
Hywel Dda was also the best performing health board area for waiting times across all units, including minor injury units, but came second to Cardiff and Vale in terms of the percentage of patients seen inside four hours at major units.
