GWYNEDD Council has been accused of ‘letting residents down’ in Garndolbenmaen over the Christmas period after failing to collect their garden waste as advertised.
Cllr Stephen Churchman said on 29 December recycling boxes were emptied, but brown bins were left full at kerbsides in the village, despite the refuse collection calendar showing the service was due that day.
From 9 January, Gwynedd Council will be charging residents an annual fee of £33 for garden waste collection, but according to Cllr Churchman, normal collections were due to made up until this point.
He said: “I placed my brown bin at the kerbside as normal along with the blue boxes. The first I knew of the problem was when I was contacted by a neighbour asking why the bins had not been emptied.
"There were a number of brown bins out that day and all had been left.”
A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “We understand that there has been some confusion and therefore arrangements are being made to collect garden waste from the affected areas this week."
