A fundraising drive has been launched to provide an Aberystwyth Scout hut with security after a series of break-ins.
Leaders at the 3rd Aberystwyth Scout Group, based on Plascrug Avenue, are hoping to raise £1,000 for “additional security measures” and repairs to the hut roof.
In July, the Cambrian News reported how a police investigation was launched after vandalism left the building “dangerous to use”.
The incident saw electricals stolen, including laptops and projectors, along with damage to padlocks and an inside door.
Jon Snelling, Group Scout Leader for 3rd Aberystwyth, said that more damage was caused to the hut last month.
“There was no additional break-in, but we have now decided to set up a fundraiser page to help us pay for security measures and fix the hut up a bit,” Mr Snelling said.
He said there is also “an urgent need for roof repairs”.
3rd Aberystwyth Scout Group provides activities and adventures for young people aged six to 17 years old in the Aberystwyth area.
