FUND-RAISERS in Meirionnydd have collected more than £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK.

During Parkinson’s Awareness Week, 18 to 24 April, a series of events were held along the Cambrian coast.

The main fund-raiser took place in Barmouth where over £800 was raised in memory of Murray Corashy, the brother of Murray’s cafe owner Gillian Mullin.

Murray enjoyed a prestigious career in aviation training new captains and testing new aircraft before succumbing to Parkinson’s disease just before Christmas after a brave 30-year battle with the condition.

There was also an evening of Bluegrass music held in Theatr Harlech which raised more than £200 for the South Snowdonia Parkinson’s UK group, organised by chair Elaine Evans.

The cafe held a charity raffle on Saturday, 23 April, where the winner was drawn by MP for Dwyfor and Meirionnydd Liz Saville Roberts.
